“If you care for the soil, the soil will care for the plants.”

We started Herbs, Spice, Everything Nice in 1981 as an herb and flower farm with a ½ acre of reclaimed land and a 60-foot greenhouse. The farm produced over 200 varieties of herb plants along with fields of cut flowers and vegetables. We quickly learned that if you care for the soil, the soil will care for the plants.

In 2005 we purchased land in Selbyville, Delaware and built a USDA Certified Organic farm. We implemented Biodynamic and Sustainable Farming methods to produce the most flavorful and healthiest vegetables and herbs. These methods include a holistic, ecological and ethical approach to farming nutritious food while working with mother nature to create balance.  We maintain a balance of good naturalized predator bugs, use trap crops and crop rotation to account for 80% of our pest management program. All produce packaging consists of biodegradable corn based or paper bags.

The USDA Organic Certification distinguishes that our plants and vegetables are grown and handled in accordance with USDA regulations. Our documented growing plan includes crop rotation, soil management, pest management and planting and harvesting records. Restrictions include no GMO products and no petroleum-based chemicals or fertilizers.  The farm is subject to an annual third-party independent audit in order to maintain certification.

We love growing, eating and offering incredible, real food. We continuously trial different vegetable varieties to determine what tastes and grows best.  We specialize in heirloom and unique crops by searching seed saving sites across the world for inspiration. If there is a vegetable you are looking for, chances are we’ve grown it or we can give it a try to see how it works.

Tomatoes are the farm’s main vegetable crop with over 60 of the most colorful and flavorful varieties. We have 30 types of cherry tomatoes in every shape and color and try to choose a favorite every season. Come visit us and help decide.
